Doreen Lorenzo Named one of Texas Monthly’s Top Innovators
Doreen Lorenzo was featured as one of the top 15 innovators shaping Texas in the February 2018 issue of Texas Monthly.
Lorenzo is former president of frog design and Quirky, a leader in the design thinking movement, and an advocate for advancing the power of human-centered design. She is also co-founder of mobile video insights firm Vidlet, as well as a board member and advisor of several other startups, and a columnist for Fast Co. Design. With the proliferation of technology infiltrating every industry, she has helped Fortune 100 companies across the world bring design into their organizations and solve complex problems.
Lorenzo has moved into education as the founding director of the Center for Integrated Design at UT-Austin. The program’s overnight success led to her position as assistant dean for the new UT-Austin School of Design and Creative Technologies (SDCT), which is housed under the College of Fine Arts. The SDCT’s mission is to create a new generation of creative innovators who not only have good ideas but the communication skills to sell them. Already, the school has attracted the support of IBM, which hosted a class at their North Austin design studio that was taught by IBM designers.
